Acrylic on Board.
I painted this Plein Air on a smoky day at The Jim Coutts Western Centre in Nanton Alberta. It was one of their Plein Air events, but because of the smoke, there were few artists. The smoke gave a romantic air to the scene. The Centre is the past homestead of Jim Coutts' parents, who bequeathed the land to the University of Lethbridge. The gardens are planted in heritage plants and it is one of my favourite places to paint.
