Transcluent Treasure
I hiked down a cliff to get to this beautiful turquoise water flowing through the large grey blue mountain rocks. The scene beckoned me to capture it in a studio painting. My medium of choice was acrylics. After sketching in the composition onto my canvas, I begin to block in the large shapes and continue to layer and detail out the painting. I wanted to be sure to paint the many shades in this clear water and the wonderful contrast of the solid rocks against the liquid flow of this river. I painted the trees in the background loose, creating the group of trees with my values. I chose the title Translucent Treasure, because it was a treasure found that day in this clear turquoise water .
