When I choose something to paint, I look for things that stir memories and that pose a challenge. The robust form and color of the cherries and the delicate etching on the dish seem to both complement and contrast with each other. Over the years, the little etched dish has held candies, nuts, and other sweets for our family. But I think the fresh Bing cherries did it justice!
