Beyond The Breakwater

Developed in the studio from an initial plein air sketch, I wanted to convey the atmosphere of a warm afternoon at the beach, the restorative infusion of sunshine. I chose a palette to convey this feeling, using the qualities of transparent and opaque paint, brush rag and palette knife to create texture.
