Labyrinth
Most of my work centers on the human figure within storytelling. Perhaps because I grew up with a large family, I’ve always looked to home as a central theme, using the bible, myth, lore, and fairytale to enter my paintings. The living transform, and within cycles of familial and cultural change, I look at contrasts: light and dark, joy and loss, power and fragility. As someone who grew up Christian and of European descent, my upbringing has suggested that light parallels spirit, and darkness, chaos. I felt my own questions of faith, partnership, and the balance of opposites churning within the work for the ideas of light and dark attached in my mind.
