Vienna - variegated (No 1)

As a painter, I've sometimes found my known tenets of transparent watercolor to be inadequate to capture the nuances present in a multi-faceted cityscape. So as a new experimental series, I started 'Variegated' in 2022, where to express the varied city fabric – its many colors, textures, sentiments, and stories, I’ve used other water media like gouache, acrylic ink, liquid watercolor & watercolor pencils in conjunction with transparent watercolor, to create a kind of collage in a contemporary urban format. Here, my goal is to achieve a narrative that is complex & non-linear - like a typical urban scene.
