The distant blues

The distant blues
I painted “The distant blues” in the mountains somewhere between the villages of Gourdon and Caussols, in the south of France, this spring.
Gourdon is an archetype of a perched, medieval village sitting up on the rock of breathtaking heights and enjoying panoramic sea views. There is only one entrance, from which you can access the main street.
Caussols is a tiny village situated on the plateau, with traces of settlements going back to the Bronze Age.
I find these barren landscapes with distant sea views emotionally charged. Planning to paint here more!
