Buck
This is a portrait of my father, Walter Lee, more affectionately known as "Buck". In my early adulthood, he told me once the name aged from a white convenience store clerk's comment about his hair, referring to him as Buckwheat in his youth. In my youth, this never occurred to me. From the commentary of those who personally knew my dad, "Buck" seemed synonymous with strength, ingenuity, pride, trauma, beer, audacity, and humor. His scars, wrinkles, and textures illustrate the terrain of experiences he has navigated to make a name for himself.
