When I was a child, my parents used to visit a friends who owned a farm near Smiths Falls Ontario. This old Sugar Shack was on the property. Another boy my age lived on the farm and we used to walk through the fields to this place and pick up crab apples from the trees nearby. I recently received a photo of the old shack from him and I decided to paint this with fond memories of this beautiful old place.
