Favorite Pastime

Watercolor on Arches 140 lb Cold Press. A good book is hard to put down and I wanted to convey to the viewer a woman's sense of curiosity and adventure sometimes lies in the palm of her hand. High contrast mixed with saturated tones of color helped me to paint this watercolor painting. I layered every strand of hair leaving the white of the paper for highlights.
