Oil on Ampersand gessoboard. I start with a toned panel of Alizarin Permanent and a rough sketchy outline of the subject. After applying the darkest elements I slowly work on building up the lightest values . I do not use any kind of thinner or turpentine so paying attention to how thick I apply paint is very important.
