Flywheel

Flywheel, Plein Air Oil
Flywheel
Oil painting of the Piermont Flywheel and the old building behind it. The Flywheel was the core of an old factory and was literally too big to be removed when the plant was demolished decades ago. It sits about 300 feet from the Hudson River near the pier where America loaded its boys onto troop ships to go fight in the great war. This painting was done this year over some days while standing near the Flywheel. The style might be described as a blend of Hopper, Fauve, with a bit of whimsy.
