Fire Forest was painted during a particular difficult year of fires in the interior of British Columbia. The lone Birch is denuded but pure within the forest whose leaves of turned the bright autumn red. This was an exploration of blending impressionism with a surreal experience as the observer is across the 'cooling' pond and the fire forest reflects there. The heat of the forest, blurs the imagery.
