Taking the Time

I was raised on a historic ranch in British Columbia Canada. Riding the range on my horse and moving our cows was my life and being in nature was the best life ever.
I titled this painting "Taking the Time" as its a process to let the cows settle and find their calves as we progressed high into the range and its important as it kept them calm and moving forward, and caused very little stress.
Life was simple and life was beautiful on our horses riding and pushing our cows out to the summer range. This image portrays our lives as ranchers.
I work in oils on canvas and panel, portraying the life I live on our ranch and backpacking into the wild.
