Red Cabbage and Onions

An alla prima still life, painted from direct observation. I couldn't resist this beautiful cabbage at the market, and paired it with an antique hammered copper sauce pan and the lovely little pearl-like onions. Painted in oil on stretched canvas. I started painting at the age of 40, in April of 2019 after my youngest son went to school. What a gift it was to look forward to making a life with art, even in middle age.
