Sunset on the Arno, Florence

Here is a scene from one of my favorite cities, Florence-the birthplace of my mother. On my last trip there I was walking along the road beside the series of bridges and stopped on the Ponte Vecchio. Jostling for position with other viewers, I was able to capture several shots of the sunset. A small boat filled with passengers came toward me, which made the view even more interesting. I loved the twinkle of lights along the streets and bridges as the sun set and night descended.The evening light gilded everything, and the myriad lights along the bridges and streets were already lit. An added bonus was the boat being steered toward me filled (most likely) with tourists – was this their first visit to the wonderful city?
