Tramonto a Castiglioncello (Sunset at Castiglioncello)
Of course, it is always exciting to witness the unfolding of a sunset. It might begin with light, almost subdued colors and continue in that vein until the color dissolves into the shadows and darkness of the night sky. However, the sunset might progress into spectacular ribbons of intense color-as happened here. I was drawn to the contrasts in the dark to lighter violets, the glimpses of blue sky, the ribbons of orange and yellow, and the little floating semi-neon pink clouds. All this was then anchored by the dark twisted trees underneath highlighted by the intense orange background.
